Shaking Crab (Newton): The Ultimate Seafood Boil Experience

Good food and service. We had mixed seafood boil with medium gulf sauce. Totally awesome. Came with bibs and wet naps. We used both. A good thing since we had sauce everywhere. Definitely would return.

A Hidden Gem/treasure if you will. A small edifice but family oriented, kind and friendly atmosphere. I went for the first time and was greeted by Alice who was absolutely Amazing from beginning to end. I went for the seafood boil with Alaskan crab, lobster tails in garlic butter sauce. I highly recommend this place to anyone worth the drive and money. The drinks to boot REALLY TASTY! I enjoyed while I was there Mango Mojitos! I recommend as well you definitely have an excellent dining experience! I will definitely Be BACK!! Alice thank you for all your help and being extra attentive!

Shaking Crab in Newton is a small but nice location located in a residential area of Newton. The service was quick and efficient, and overall was pretty good at getting orders out quickly. Plenty of street parking outside the restaurant, and it is decently crowded but not too overwhelming. The food was great, portions are a bit smaller than I expected for the price, but had a robust flavor for most of the items. The cajun flavor was tasty with a deep flavor, not too overwhelming or too oily but a great flavor to use to dip french fries in or use for the sides. The noodles, I didn't really enjoy, it was like a lo mein noodle and too thick, but the butter did have a good flavor. The Fried catfish was pretty good as well, a nice light batter fry, not much flavor in the batter but overall went well with the seafood boil. Overall, a great place to visit and try, especially if you are a fan of seafood boils and don't want to travel into Boston to get it.

Pretty solid spot for seafood in a bag. I have tried other competitors in the area and they didn’t have it. Definitely coming back to this place for more seafood boils!

I love restaurants that are converted houses. The atmosphere was cozy, the hospitality was friendly, and the food was simply delicious. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.

Been going since they opened. No better seafood boils in the MA area. This is the king! Don’t miss out on the garlic noodles too. They are insanely good.

This is the OG shaking crab, still serving with the shaking bags which we look forward to, we had the all you can eat options for the evening, end up eating about 3 pounds of snow crab, 2 pounds of shrimp between the 2 of us, the seafood was amazing, the service with prompt and attentive. , the sauces were all delicious and we get to try basically all of them between orders, definitely worth the drive and visit. Come hungry!
